Barbara Wilkanowski is a former attorney with the Queens County District Attorney’s office in Kew Gardens, New York. A talented and proficient attorney that brought more than 20 years of legal experience to her role as Supervising Assistant District Attorney, Wilkanowski is well versed in the legal disciplines of constitutional law, criminal law, and criminal procedure. Barbara Wilkanowski has argued criminal cases at the Supreme Court level, and she possesses superb communication and dispute-resolution skills.
Admitted to the bar in the states of New York and Connecticut, Barbara Wilkanowski earned her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the City University of New York (CUNY) Law School at Queens College, Flushing, New York. Prior to her Doctorate, Wilkanowski attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, where she earned her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Criminal Justice Administration and Planning, magna cum laude. Barbara Wilkanowski earned a position on the Dean’s List for the four years that she was an undergraduate and participated as a member of Nu Gamma Sigma, the Criminal Justice Honor Society on campus.
In the natural course of her career, Barbara Wilkanowski has had the opportunity to participate in many high-level legal cases and activities. These have included drafting legal pleadings, conducting client interviews, and following through with legal research in the relevant areas of law. Additionally, Ms. Wilkanowski has analyzed legal motions, researched and wrote bench memoranda, and drafted legal decisions on behalf of judges.
